Every family in the KMC knows the feeling. The orders come through, the timeline starts, and suddenly the place you have called home for two or three years has an end date. A PCS move is exciting — but it is also a goodbye. To friends, to a base, to a country your kids may have taken their first steps in.

Before the boxes are packed and the house is empty, there is one thing worth doing: capture your family here, in Germany, while you still can. These are photos you will look back on for the rest of your lives.

Why a farewell session matters

Years from now, your children may only know Germany through stories — and through pictures. A session before you leave freezes this chapter exactly as it was: your family, this season of life, in the landscape you lived in. It is one of the most meaningful things you can take home with you.

Don't wait until the last week

PCS season is busy, and so is mine. Outbound dates, clearing the house, final inspections, and travel all crowd the calendar fast. My honest advice: book four to six weeks before your move. That gives us room to choose a good date, work around the weather, and pick a location that means something to your family — without adding stress to an already full schedule.

Choose a place that tells your story

Maybe it is the trail you walked every weekend, the playground your kids loved, a castle you visited together, or simply your home on or off base. Because I work without a fixed studio, we can shoot wherever your German story actually happened. Those personal backdrops make the most powerful farewell photos.
