Just Arrived at Ramstein? Your First Family Photos in Germany
Welcome to Germany. If you've just PCS'd into the Kaiserslautern Military Community, you're somewhere between exciting and overwhelming right now — new house, new roads, new everything, and a to-do list that doesn't quit. Photos are probably the last thing on your mind.
But here's a thought worth holding onto: this is the beginning of a chapter your family will talk about for the rest of your lives. And beginnings are worth photographing, not just endings.
Mark the start, not just the goodbye
Most families think about photos when a PCS is ending — the farewell session before they ship out. Fewer think to capture the arrival. That's a missed moment. Years from now, "our first weeks in Germany" will be its own story, and right now your kids are exactly the ages they'll never be again.
A session in your first months says: this is where our German adventure started.
You don't need to feel "settled" first
It's tempting to wait until the house is perfect and you "know your way around." Don't. The early days have a feeling all their own — fresh eyes, a little nervous, full of firsts. We can shoot at your new home, on or off base, or out in the countryside you're just beginning to explore. Because I work without a fixed studio, I come to you — no hunting for a location while you're still finding the grocery store.
A familiar face who speaks your language
Settling into a new country is a lot. Working with your photographer shouldn't add to it. I'm based right here in Kaiserslautern, I photograph KMC families all the time, and everything happens in English at a relaxed pace. I know what a fresh PCS feels like, and I'll make this the easy, fun part of your week.
A gentle first step into your new home
Think of it as more than photos — it's a reason to slow down, breathe, and actually be a family in your new place, before the routine takes over. You'll come away grounded, and with images that turn a stressful move into the start of something good.
